EPW - Geo Robertson, London (one listing "probably pre-1764" - Loomes), triple-cased verge fusee, 56mm, 22K yellow gold OF original inner two cases bearing Continental hallmarks, the second in repoussé depicting scene from Virgil's Aeneid, the outer in gilt tombac alloy with shagreen piqué and display back, KWKS, later WED fitted to original plate, gold hands later as well, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced & engraved foliate scrolled balance cock, DES, s#20. Gross weight of assembled watch 84.5 dwt (131.4 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, good balance motion, good escapement function, slightly out of beat, plates show mint gilding, hardly any oxide on steel components; dial with faint hl from 4 to center; hands excellent; original outer case shows little wear, most gilding intact, complete shagreen with only minor chips or splits, good thick domed bull's-eye glass crystal; button latch good; original second case shows little wear thanks to glazed outer, few MFS, no dents or dings, good facial detail remaining with minimal reduction; button latch good; original inner case shows hardly any wear, few MFS, no dents or dings; bow & pendant original and still swivel as intended; good domed bull's-eye glass crystal. A splendid decorative example.
